The Client: Conservation Solutions
Forging a new right arm for "Liberty" and restoring the

court house in North Carolina.

The
right thumb of Justice is laid out onto a zinc plate.

The thumb was formed
out of three pieces of zinc.
Origiinally I planned to make it from one piece but stretching the base
of the thumb was making it too thin so I spliced in a small piece.
The client when shown the photo on the left, said that the
nail
was too long and didn't match the other thumb so I made a
patch
and lost the long nail.

At
left is a picture of the artwork that Conservation Solutions
made
and took their molds from. I transfered the shapes
to the
flat zinc and formed the parts to fit into the mold.
below, are the molds for the right thumb and the left hand. and on each
side, the artwork for the left hand.
The hand is finished too,
That's on the next page. |
