Dear
Gene,
I
believe you may remember me from the work you did for us on the Hermann
Monument in New Ulm some years back. You did a fine job in recreating
the missing and damaged boot as I am sure you recall.
We
have a new project which seems suited to your skills and may interest
you. It is the recreation of several elements from 2 zinc sculptures,
formed and soldered like copper is, that stand atop a courthouse in
North Carolina. The sculptures are in our studio outside of Washington
DC. We have modeled replacements for the missing hand from "Justice"
and the missing arm and flag from "Liberty". Each stands
about 12 foot tall. We need to fabricate these in zinc
now. Our plan has been to create molds from the clay, sink
and form the zinc sheets (we have these) into the molds, butt-solder
them together and then solder them to the originals.
Would
you be interested in this project? We could create the molds
or you could take on the entire project from this point. We need to
have this completed by the end of August.
Let
me know your thought and lets discuss your possible involvement and
cost. I am enclosing a historical image of the "Liberty"
before the arm was lost for your information. We are having
the eagle cast separately so you needn't be involved in that.
Thanks
