My partner, Chris Wilson, and I share
well appointed studios in rural, fast
becoming suburban
Minnesota. We have
facilities and
resources to produce things in many different media
though metal and stone are our main focus. My studio
is in a 40 x 60 ft building, and includes, welding,
forging, stone carving, sandblast, woodworking, and
machine shop areas. As well as multipurpose areas
and tools ranging from kilns to pressure rollers
suitable for print making. Chris has studios in the old
barn where we do our own molds and waxes though
we work with local foundries for our castings when we need them.
Chris is also an artist and sculptor. I first met her when she first worked
with me on the BEST store
project in Brown Deer, WI back in 1984 for SITE projects, NY, NY. She ran my
molds and wax
department where we made
the patterns for the facsimile
bronze and aluminum
products which graced the
exterior shelves of the
Wines/Weinstein creation. It
was her patient attention to
detail which helped to
produce the artifacts frozen
in gray.
Thank you for this opportunity to share our work. If you have any questions
please do not hesitate to call or email me.
I hope to hear from you soon.
Sincerely yours,
Gene Olson
