Repair of the Herman Monument, New Ulm, MN

roughing in the toe
Here is the new lower boot next to the original one.
We added about an inch and a half of material to the bottom edge to replace some trimmed off
by previous "restorations" and so that the boot could be trimmed to fit to the contour of the platform on site.

Roughing in the side of the boot
Fitting the cuff to the boot and the edge of the pattern buck that matches the bottom of the statue leg.

final complex keystone piece to cuff and boot.
The final complex bridge part made for a tight solder in fit to the left and right halves of the cuff.

The finished boot, sans cuff, set in place on site. The Conservation Solutions team will trim the bottom to fit and solder it and the cuff in place.
